Zineb Ait Bahajji, a Google Webmaster Trends Analysts, is asking webmasters to tell her and Google why they want more than 90-days worth of data in the Google Search Console Search Analytics report.

Back in April 2012, Google expanded the data to show 90-days worth of data and since then, it hasn’t gone a day longer than 90-days. In September 2013, Google told us they will give us a year worth of data but for some reason, that never happened. Also in early 2015, Google told us we’d get that years worth of data sometime that year, but again, it did not happen.

Now, Google is asking once again, why do you want it?

To be fair, they are asking this because you can export the data and store it locally. They also released a Search Analytics API where you can automate the data retrieval process to build your own reports. Plus, there are many paid tools that offer this as well.

But having it built into the Google Search Console is a huge convenience. So to tell Google why you want more than 90-days of data, all you need to do is go over to Twitter and post why with the hashtag #moredataSAN – do that and Google will review the reasons and potentially give us more than 90-days of data in 2016.

I mean, we can dream, right?
