Google announced they are expanding their TV show search features to now also show the air times and channel information for television shows. So if you search for your favorite TV show, Google will not just show the apps and websites that will stream the show, but may also begin to show you which television network and channel, as well as the time the show airs on live TV.
Daniel Alegre, President of Global Partnerships, Google said, “Coming soon, Google Search will have live TV listings. So now when you’re looking for The Big Bang Theory, we’ll not only show you the apps and sites where you can find the latest episode, but also show which channel you can turn your TV to later in the evening or week to catch it live.”
In 2013, Google added TV listings to their search results, but the experience was not all that great. Google has tried many times to make TV search better, but over the past decade or so, they have not really moved the needle much in that area.
With that, Google is also launching personalized TV ads with DoubleClick dynamic ad insertion. In August 2012, Google killed off their TV ads platform, after launching it to advertisers in 2008.
